Alec Baldwin for Mayor of NYC??

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/31/mayor-alec-baldwin/

The above article's headlines are of the only importance here. I see another ally people are using to further themselves and/or their career. A CNN post said that the "idea" of Alec Baldwin running for NYC Mayor was just him publicly saying he would like to be Mayor. This is a perfect example of how the media is misconstruing our words to make headlines. Baldwin said on the Lateshow that he will not be running because he'd rather be traveling with his new girlfriend. So who wins here? Well, I think both. CNN has me blogging about this, people will see the title of the article and click on it and read it. With that said, their viewing will increase from that one article today and maybe their ratings will slightly increase for August 31, 2011. Alec Baldwin is also a winner. His name is out in the media (Neither Bad nor Good news) and he got to promote himself for the TV show he'll be on this fall. I think when the media takes voiced ideas form celebs or politicians and make news of it no one gets criticized. Good one CNN.

  1. This is incredible. It just goes to show that everything, even if not political, is scrutinized by the media. The publicity side of the article was a good call, too. Even if an article is far too outlandish for anyone to believe, people are still going to read it, and like you said, boost their ratings/reviews. No harm, no foul, I guess.

  2. I do agree that both sides won. They brought attention to both their names and got people turing into CNN and Alec Baldwin's shows. It shows that media makes a big deal about nothing and their job is in part to entertain seeing from how blogs were talking about this story show that they were making people more interested in the topic. The discussion lead for Baldwin to have publicity about upcoming work for him because of a fabricated story from the media.

  3. wow what a blatant misconception of a non-political celebrity statement on behalf of CNN... *CNN::**were just saying...alec baldwin would like to be mayor...hahaha. i guess they just thought anyone would want/be honored to be mayor of NY. Your right Forrest, pay off for both CNN and Baldwin, too bad for CNN Baldwin doesn't care enough about politics to interject himself into candidacy, he would rather be off blowing his millions. This one was for entertainment value solely.
